On the occasion of Frieze Los Angeles, UTA Artist Space and Unit London are pleased to announce a new immersive environment by the celebrated LA-based artist Enrique Martínez Celaya. The exhibition follows the gallery's presentation of Ryan Hewett's first solo show at UTA Artist Space in 2021.
In The Rose Garden, Celaya ambitiously brings together new paintings, sculptures, installations, photographs, garments, and writing, inviting viewers to consider the self—both its promise and its threat—through the mystical divination of memory. Existing in harmony with the artist’s concurrent solo exhibitions at The Huntington Library, USC Fisher Museum of Art and Edward L. Doheny Jr. Memorial Library – The Rose Garden denotes the power art has to change our perceptions of the world and of our inner selves.
Enrique Martínez Celaya is an artist, author, and former scientist born in Cuba, raised in Spain and Puerto Rico, and who currently resides in Los Angeles.
